Tomorrow is Bristol Doors Open Day. In particular the threatened downstairs floor of the Central Library will be open to the public.
Most of the Doors Open Day buildings are shit boring or generally accessible anyway. The absolute must-see, if you've never been round them, are Redcliffe Caves.
The proper way to look round Redcliffe Caves is with the stub of a flickering candle dripping hot wax onto your hand, getting completely lost with your stoned mates at two o'clock in the morning. But since the owners have upgraded the entrance with a very beefy padlock Bristolians have been denied this particular rite-of-passage.
The Temple Meads tour is also supposed to be very good, but as ever it's fully booked already.
The Central Library is threatened with being kicked out of its lower floors as a posh school wants them. Go along tomorrow and see what all the fuss is about.
There's a Facebook page to support the Central Library here.
